I have done some research recently to see exactly how much renters are paying these days...to say I was astonished is definitely an understatement! I spoke to a young couple who were current renters at an apartment complex and I asked them how much was their rent and what did that space look like. They currently pay $1200 for a 1 bedroom apartment....that is crazy right?!?!? When did rent become so expensive? This is for a 1 bedroom/1 bath unit and they let me know that they were in the cheaper 1 bedroom apartment. Wait...you mean to tell me in this particular apartment complex you can pay more than $1200 for a 1 bedroom apartment? also, in this same apartment complex a 2 bedroom is at least $2000 per month.
Cons of rent - no interest in the property, no tax deductions, rental amount may increase at any time, need landlord approval to make changes (no matter how minor), etc....
People, I feel like I am not doing my job if I were to ignore this and allow my fellow Louisianans to continue to rent and not talk about your options!
